Dorothy (Ray) Brackin, 93, of Greensburg, formerly of Lower Burrell, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at Brookdale, Latrobe. Born Aug. 22, 1928, in New Kensington, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer Bart Ray and Madeleine (Brassine) Ray. Dorothy was a life member at Puckety Presbyterian Church, Lower Burrell, where she was formerly on the board of elders and board of deacons. She was a graduate of Arnold High School, Class of 1946, and was a former member of the Burrell Youth Commission. Before her retirement, she was a secretary at the Lower Burrell and Burrell School Districts, and was also a personnel specialist at J.C. Penney. Dorothy was an avid reader and loved to garden. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death on April 26, 2007, by her husband, James C. Brackin, whom she married June 9, 1951; one son, Robert J. Brackin (Suzanne); one grandson, Joshua Stine; two brothers, Wilmer Ray Jr. and Richard C. Ray (Carol); and a sister-in-law, Peggy Ewalt (Floyd). Dorothy is survived by two sons, John C. Brackin and his wife, Jamie, of Greensburg; and Thomas C. Brackin and his wife Judy, of West Chester; one daughter, Barbara J. Williamson, of Clifton, Va.; one sister, Mary Ray, of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Justin Stine, Stephanie Spaw and her husband, Chris, Jessica Brackin and Amy Zadrovitz and her husband, Sean; and two great-grandchildren, Gage Stine and Audrey Spaw. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Durika officiating. Private interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
