Dorothy Cook Obituary

Dorothy E. "Dottie" Cook, 98, of Penn Township, formerly of Monroeville, died on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025. She was born on Oct. 24, 1926, in Wilmerding, a daughter of the late William Thomas Sr. and Margaret (Gonder) Swank. Dottie loved to crochet and crafted many tablecloths, doilies, baby blankets, and booties. She also enjoyed playing bingo and was a former member and elder of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Monroeville. Dottie is survived by her three loving children, Harry F. (late Cindy) Cook of CA, Eugene E. (Rita) Cook of Pittsburgh, and Deborah L. Petrush of Penn Township; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, H. Robert (Nancy) Swank and William T. (Marilyn) Swank Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved Chihuahua, Grasie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her cherished husband of nearly 50 years, Harry Benjamin Cook; and six siblings. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025, at LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME INC., 3343 Route 130, PO Box 465, Harrison City, 724-744-2721, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025. Interment will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
