Edna Ciafre Obituary

Edna Ann Ciafre, 77, of Greensburg, died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 9, 1924, in Southwest, a daughter of the late John and Suzan Dzambo Smail. She was a member of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Prior to retirement, she was the owner and proprietor of Joe's Henry Burger Restaurant of Latrobe, and was last employed at Norvelt Pharmacy. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Patsy A. Ciafre; and her sister-in-law, Rosemary Smail. She is survived by a son, Gene P. Ciafre and wife, Trudy, of Greensburg; two daughters, Patricia A. Bair and husband, David, of Lexington, Ky., and Constance S. Ciafre of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Nicol Ciafre of Los Angeles, Calif., Alicia Ciafre of Murrysville and their mother, Carol Ciafre of Murrysville, and Susan Nudd of Lexington, Ky., and Tami Pieratt of Orlando, Fla.; a great-grandson, Dillon Pieratt; three brothers, Jack Smail and wife, Gladys, of Jeannette, William Smail and wife, Jane, of United and Eugene "Cotton" Smail of Norvelt; and several nieces and nephews. Friends received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Blessing service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Visitation of the B.V.M. Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Visitation Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. Sandra L. Hoffer, funeral director.
