Elizabeth Ruffner Obituary

Elizabeth P. Ruffner, 82, of Latrobe, died Friday, May 30, 2003, in I.H.S. at Mountain View. She was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Henry Earl and Bessie Dermer Hite. She had been employed by Kemps Shoes as a salesperson. She was a member of Latrobe Presbyterian Church and regularly attended Bethany United Methodist Church with her family. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Crabtree Sportsmen's Club (of which she was a charter member), the board of directors for Homes Build Hope and the Daughters of Ruth Sunday school class, and was a volunteer at Latrobe Area Hospital. She was the ultimate Latrobe Wildcats fan and was a supporter of all their athletic programs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Ruffner; and a sister, Lorraine Truxell. Surviving are three sons, James E. Ruffner and his wife, Gloria, of Little Rock, Ark., Robert D. "Bo" Ruffner and his wife, Phyllis, of Greensburg, and Barry L. "Chad" Ruffner and his wife, Mary Kay, of New Alexandria; six grandchildren, Sherri Holler and her husband, Dick, Kelly Grejtak and her husband, Bryan, Bo Ruffner and his wife, Gina, Becky Quinn and her husband, Brian, Chad Ruffner and Raime Ruffner; eight great-grandchildren, Ty, Seth and Trent Holler, Kennedy and Sheridan Grejtak, Bo Daniel Ruffner, Landrey and Sydney Quinn; two brothers, Robert E. Hite and wife, Ruthie, of Penn, and William A. Hite and wife, Ruth, of Greensburg; and three sisters, Mrs. H.R. (Lou) Cavanaugh, of Hilton Head, S.C., Mrs. Walter (Mary Jane) Brinker, of Greensburg, and Mrs. Francis (Jo Anne) Noel, of Latrobe. Visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, with the Rev. William D. Schmeling, pastor emeritus of the Bethany United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment, Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
