Faye A. Murphy

1924 - 2017

Faye A. Murphy, 93, of Ligonier, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Jones Mills, a daughter of the late James J. and Jennie Kunkle Logan. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a baker, most recently for the former M's Restaurant in Ligonier. She and her husband loved to dance and went dancing often while he was still living. Faye particularly loved to polka dance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R, Murphy, in 2001; two sons, Gerald and Ronald Kalp; and thirteen stepsiblings. She is survived by four children, Sharon (John) Anderson and Richard "Dick" (Carole) Kalp, all of Melcroft, Dr. Pamela (Mark) Murphy-Wagner, of Reading, and Michael J. (Reynaldo Vega) Murphy, of Ligonier; 13 grandchildren, Sherry, Robert, Jeffrey, James, Jack, and David Kalp, Shelly Shupe, John Anderson, Lori Stoner, Ali Fischenich, Jody Riggle and Matthew and Tyler Wagner; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Marlene Kalp, of Donegal and Judy Kalp, of Grapeville.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Monday at the J. PAUL MCCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, with the Rev. Dr. J. Paul McCracken officiating. Interment will follow in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.
