Francis Clay McNerney, 84, of Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025. He was born on June 10, 1941, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Clawell and Agnes (Skinner) McNerney. Clay was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Delmont and a member of the Greater Greensburg Civil War Round Table. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland in 1968 with a degree in industrial engineering and then got his master's from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980. Prior to his retirement, Clay worked for Westinghouse in Blairsville for 33 years. Clay loved country music, fly fishing, and playing the steel guitar and dobro guitar; participated in the Christmas at Salem Crossroads; and was a true fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Maryland Lacrosse. In addition to his parents, Clay was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol (Lohr) McNerney; sisters, Deanne, Agnes, and Wynne; and brothers, Michael and John. Clay will be deeply missed by his wife of 18 years, Michele (Konstanty) Kalp-McNerney; children, Clay (Keely) McNerney, Shannon (Randy) Haywood, and Dan (Tabitha) Kalp; sister, Karen (Bub) Blandford; brother, Mark McNerney; sister-in-law, Betty McNerney; and numerous nieces and nephews. Clay was a proud grandfather of Rory, Hannah, Landan, Payton, and Jamison, whom he loved all dearly. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Dr., Delmont (724-468-1177). A service for Clay will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at Salem Lutheran Church, Delmont.
