Frank "Ross" Murdock Jr., 85, of Greensburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Excela Health, Westmoreland Hospital. Ross was born Dec. 12, 1932, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Frank R. Murdock Sr. and Erma Gill Murdock. Ross was a graduate of Randolph Macon Academy, Virginia, and the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Charter Oak Church, Greensburg, where he and his wife were very active, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. Ross was employed by the Campbell Soup Co. as director of logistics, retiring after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of the Service Corps of Retired Executives, (SCORE), the Academy of Advanced Transportation, an avid Pirates and Steelers fan and enjoyed reading Sherlock Holmes novels, sharing them with his local book club. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Herman Murdock; children, Ross Murdock (Marlene), of Atco, N.J., Glenn Murdock, of Philadelphia, Bryan Murdock (Marguerite), of New Jersey, Mark Murdock (Maureen), of New Jersey, Scott Murdock (Mariela), of Leesburg, Fla., Drew Murdock, of Mays Landing, N.J., and Craig Murdock (Lisa), of Commodore, Pa.; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; stepsister and brother, Shirley Reimer, of Sacramento, Calif., and Will Jeffries, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Sue Murdock, of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, Ross was preceded in death by his brother, David Murdock.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday to the Charter Oak Church, 449 Frye Farm Road, Greensburg, PA 15601, where a memorial service to celebrate the life of Ross will be held at noon with Pastor Donna Gabler, officiating. The celebration of life service for Ross is under the direction of SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE, 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant.
