George B. Coffen

1931 - 2025

George B. Coffen, 94, of Export, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at UPMC East in Monroeville with his family beside him. George was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Export, to the late Arcadio and Virginia Coffen. George was a loving husband to his wife, Rita, and a wonderful father to his three sons. He was known to be a very social person and a hard-working man. George was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a Navy veteran. George was the chairman of the State of Pennsylvania Gas Association and retired from a long career at the Columbia Gas Company. However, he held many part-time jobs after retirement, as he wasn't a man to slow down. He was a member of St. John's Church in Delmont and held many volunteer positions. He was a Eucharistic Minister of Mass and for the homebound. George was the parish council president and the master of ceremonies for church events. George belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the White Valley Amvets, the Slickville American Legion, and the Italian American Club. George and his wife, Rita, loved dancing. If they weren't home on a Saturday night, they were out polka dancing with friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his very beloved wife, Rita; and his brother, John Coffen. He is survived by his three sons, Dennis, Mark, and George (Butch), and their families. George will be dearly missed by his family and friends. We were blessed beyond measure to have him in our lives. May he go with the angels and rest in peace. We love you, Dad! Full military honors will be bestowed on George. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Dr., Delmont, (724-468-1177). A Mass will be celebrated for George at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, at St. John Baptist de La Salle Church, Delmont. Everyone is to meet at the funeral home.
