George Mangan Obituary

George V. "Ungie" Mangan Sr., 66, of Jeannette, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his residence. He was born Feb. 14, 1941, in Jeannette, a son of the late George E. and Louise Vossburg Mangan. Prior to his retirement, George was a mechanic and manager for BP Oil Co. in Jeannette. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, and was inspirational in starting the St. Vincent DePaul in Jeannette. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janis Held Mangan; his children, Lisa Griffith and husband Vern, George V. Mangan Jr., and Melanie Blasco and husband AJ, all of Jeannette; grandchildren, Richard and Rebecca Hilty, Ryan Mangan, Christian and Alexis Blasco; three brothers, Robert Vossburg and wife, Jo Ann, of Virginia, Frank Mangan and wife, Barbara, of Jeannette, and William Mangan and wife, Suzanne, of Export; a sister, Cathy DiFonso and husband, Paul, of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church, North Seventh Street, Jeannette, with Father Leon Hont, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., Jeannette, entrusted with arrangements.
