George Osterwise Obituary

George L. Osterwise, 67, of Venetia, formerly of Delmont, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, in Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. He was born March 31, 1936, in Perryopolis, a son of the late Wilbur and Luella Whirlow Osterwise. George was a retired superintendent of maintenance for Consolidation Coal Co., one of the first two Eagle Scouts in the Delmont area, a member of the National Rifle Association and member of numerous RV clubs. As an avid RV traveler, he enjoyed outdoor sportsmanship and hunting. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Ann (Gutman) Osterwise; two sons, G. Allan Osterwise and his wife, Shirley, of Cranberry Township, and R. Dale Osterwise and his wife, Kimberly, of Eighty Four; George will be sadly missed by his six grandchildren, Heidi, Heather, Travis, Jeffrey, Matthew and Rebecca Osterwise; a sister, Pamela K. Osterwise, of Delmont; a brother, Wilbur "Oz" Osterwise and his wife, Wilma, of Delmont; and a number of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., at Twin Valley, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177, Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. (For directions visit www.VaiaFuneralHome.com.) George's funeral service will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Matt Kaltenberger of Grace Community Church, Cranberry Township, officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
