I lost an old and dear friend when Greg "Tackle" Cieslinski passed away recently. I have known Greg since we were youngsters in Natrona. One summer evening I was up around the Little League baseball fields and I was picked to serve as an emergency umpire for a Midget League game. That is when I noticed Greg doing it all on the field. He really impressed me with his obvious talent especially with his defense. After the game I went home and immediately told my Father ,who coached in the Major League that he had to draft Greg. He did and Greg´s career started out on the right path. He and I were lucky to be teammates with many other friends on our 1969 Senior League State Championship Team, and especially the 1971 Highlands High WPIAL Championship Team. Those players were a great group of friends and teammates ! Not only did Greg excel in Baseball , he also was the point guard on Highlands High Basketball team his junior and senior year. He was so unselfish that I remember telling over and over "to shoot the ball" more , He was a demon on defense too ! I could go on and on with some other really good stories but I hope you get the idea of what a great person Greg was to be around. Always in the middle of where the action was. I will truly miss you Greg !
