Hubert Besendorfer Obituary

Hubert passed away peacefully in his sleep on Oct. 10, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Germany on Oct. 7, 1939, he lived a life defined by hard work, witty humor, deep friendship, and devotion to family. Hubie grew up in Germany, where he formed lifelong friendships through school and soccer. He was a little stubborn in his early years, choosing to work in a coal mine instead of staying in school. He later earned his high school and electrical engineering degrees by attending night school, a testament to his determination and work ethic. In the early 1970s, Hubert's engineering degree brought him to the U.S. as a consultant for U.S. Steel. In 1974, he formally moved to the U.S., bringing his wife, Elke, and two sons to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Hubie quickly made friends through work and soccer. A memorable moment came when he mistakenly interrupted a pick-up Irish football game thinking it was soccer a happy accident that forged bonds that lasted for decades. That same group later started the first youth soccer club in Hampton Township and many additional memories. Hubie was warm, practical, and modest, with a sense of humor that endeared him to friends and family. His favorite jokes and sayings will be retold for years to come. Hubert's legacy lives on in the friendships he nurtured across two countries, the community soccer programs he helped establish, and the family he raised. He will be remembered for his humor, strong work ethic, and devotion to friends and family. Hubie was a devoted husband to his late wife, Elke; and a loving father to his sons, Stephan and Christian. He is survived by his sons, Stephan and Christian; as well as two daughters-in-law, Jill (Steve) and Beth (Christian). He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Michael. The family celebrated his life, but no formal services will be provided.
