James C. Eberts

1935 - 2017

James C. "Jim" Eberts, 81, of Jeannette, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017. He was born May 28, 1935, in Export, a son of the late Raymond and Rose (Kohosek) Eberts. Jim loved the time he spent with his beloved family. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved spending time at his "castle" in Sigel, where he could enjoy all the beauty and peacefulness that nature had to offer. Prior to retiring, Jim was employed as a prison guard in Somerset. He was an Army veteran. Jim attended St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Harrison City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Eberts; granddaughter, Shelby Bank; brothers, Ray and Pete; and sisters, Pauline, Rose Mae and Evelyn. Jim will be sadly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Irene (Kurek) Eberts; daughters, Carol Bank (Terry), of Greensburg, and Karen Abbott (Kenny), of Export; son, James Eberts (Linda), of Suffolk, Va.; brothers, Charles, of Tampa, Fla., and John, of Rochester, N.Y.; sister, Helen, of North Versailles; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Jim will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Jarrett Bank, Ryan and Brandon Abbott, Jamie Fanelli and Jessica Eberts; and great-grandchildren, Aryonna Abbott and Mason and Nathan Fanelli, all of whom he was very proud.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. A blessing service for Jim will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, with Father Michael Sikon, of St. Barbara's Catholic Church, Harrison City, officiating.. Entombment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
