Jennifer Black Obituary

Jennifer S. Black, 50, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at her childhood home, in the loving care of her mom and dad. She was born July 23, 1971, in McKeesport, the first-born daughter of Jim and Judy (Roberts) Black, of North Huntingdon. She was an honors graduate of Norwin High School, Class of 1989. She went on to become a medical assistant, then a pharmacy technician, at which she excelled. She had a soft spot in her heart for the elderly. She loved gardening, cooking and especially her pets and spending time with her family and friends. She recently told her parents that the best time of her life was playing softball as a teen for PAL, where she pitched and played left field, and she loved that time she spent with her dad, who was an assistant coach. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ethel and George Roberts; paternal grandparents, Mary and James Black; three uncles; one aunt; and her pets, Katie, Scoobie and Gray. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Amy Lane; her nephew "buddy," Joseph Lane, of Sutersville; forever friend, Renee Nist, of Atoka, Tenn.; her pets, Roxie, Scotchie and Ryan; and aunts and cousins. Family and friends were welcomed by her family at OTT FUNERAL HOME INC. in Irwin. Parting prayers were held in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Magee and Mercy hospitals, especially Melissa and Krista, UPMC Hospice, the fifth-floor nurses and aides and the cafeteria for the milkshakes they made and delivered. If desired, memorial donations may be made to any pet rescue shelter. To send online condolences, please visit www.ottfuneralhome.com.
