John K. Clark Jr., 89, of Champion, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born April 19, 1931, in Charleroi, a son of the late John K. and Edith Reilly Clark Sr. John was a graduate of Charleroi High School with the class of 1950. He attended Kansas State for one year and then received his teaching degree from the California University of Pennsylvania in 1958. John also loved dogs and had three black Labs that he raised and took care of. John was a wonderful storyteller and his grandchildren loved to sit for hours listening to exciting tails of his life. John was a loving and generous person and he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty M. Johnson Clark; his son, Randy Lee Clark and wife, Barbara, of Mill Run; his grandchildren, Amber Clark, Jamiee Clark and fiance Shane, Michael Work, Maddie Work, and Brandee Leighty and husband, Michael Meyers; his great-grandchildren, Kolby Clark, Brody Leighty, Peyton Leighty, Kayedan Clark, Kaylee Clark and Chase Johnson; and his good friend, Ralph Arrigo, of Charleroi. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. John was one of the most influential coaches, teachers and leaders of Southwestern Pennsylvania. He helped the Mt. Pleasant football program win several WPIAL titles and was a mentor to many young boys who without his influence would surely not have had much success. He also helped save many lives as a ski patroller at Seven Springs. John’s legacy will never be forgotten by the many he motivated to go beyond their comfort zone into the unknown. I’m so sad to hear of his passing and will never forget his intensity and willingness to inspire the people who needed a little push to perform beyond what they ever thought possible.

So sorry Betty and family. I'll always remember John making sure we got to ski. He also helped with my essay receiving an A on how to make snow. I'll never forget all those Friday Night Game schedules you and John had in his coaching career. Betty always a big Thanks to you for being such a caring friend to our family.
