John Ferens Obituary

John Michael Ferens, 58, of Connellsville, died Monday, April 1, 2013, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. His three children and brother, Danny, were by his side. He was born Jan. 14, 1955, in Connellsville, a son of the late Joseph E. Ferens Esq., and Helena D. Fedarko Ferens. He is survived by three children, Mandy S. Ferens, of Connellsville, Dina N. Doriguzzi, of Chambersburg, and John M. Ferens Jr., of Lewisburg, W.Va. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Derrick M. Ferens and Mataya M. Doriguzzi. Also surviving him are two brothers and two sisters, Joseph E. Ferens Jr. Esq., of Uniontown, Jacqueline A. Cuneo, of Connellsville, Pamela S. Ferens, of Mt. Pleasant, and Daniel F. Ferens, of Pittsburgh. He also leaves behind four nieces and one nephew. John was an outstanding athlete at Connellsville High School, where he excelled in football and track. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in education from California University. He holds a Master's Degree in chemistry. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, Leisenring. John was a long time employee of Wyatt Inc., as a senior international pharmaceutical sales representative. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, where a Panachidia service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, Leisenring, with the Rev.
