John Koschack Obituary

John Koschack, 84, of Yukon, died peacefully, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, in Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College, where he resided with his daughter over the past five years. He was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Donora, a son of the late Andrew and Mary (Sampuda) Koschak. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mardee Koschack; a granddaughter, Taliyah Koschack-Long; three brothers, Jim, George and Donald Koschak; three sisters, Mary Sefick, Helen Beck and Joanne Koschak. John was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army Air Corps. He had worked for Jeannette Glass for many years. His pastimes included watching cowboy movies and gardening and he was an avid sports fan. He was always busy around the house and loved sitting on the front porch talking to his friends and neighbors. John was a very personable kind of guy. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his two daughters, Loribeth Smith and her husband, Steven, of Bellfonte, and Karen Koschack-Long and her husband, Khoeuth, of Irwin; eight grandchildren, Katherine, Cristian, Nathaniel, Nikayla, Samantha, Serena, Ariana and Khai, who he loved dearly; two brothers, Edward Koschak, of Mt. Pleasant, and Jerry Koschak, of Bentleyville; his former wife, Linda Stewart and her husband, Phillip, of Greensburg; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, Pa. 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Edward Church, with Father John J. Harrold as celebrant.
