John Schott Obituary

John "Jay" Schott, 71, of Irwin, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1939, in Duquesne, a son of the late John Stephen and Catherine Elizabeth (Gorman) Schott. Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a millwright by Westinghouse Airbrake and was also the owner/operator of Jays Tree Service. He enjoyed archery, hunting coonhounds and was the National Slingshot Champ of 2008. Jay served our country in the Army from 1958 to 1961. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Schott; and his son, John Charles Schott. He is survived by three sons, Richard S., Stephen W. and Megan Ayers and Ronald M. Schott and wife, Kathy; one brother, Paul C. and his wife, Bev; one sister, Kathy Leonardo and her husband, Tom; two grandchildren, Stephen Quinlin and Keena Jane; and his special friend, Patricia Ann Bizich. There will be no public visitation. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
