John E. Shaffer

John E. Shaffer Jr., 52, of Stahlstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at his home with his family and friends at his side. He was born Feb. 15, 1954, in Ligonier, a son of John E. Sr. and Geraldine (Newill) Shaffer, of Donegal. John was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School. He was the owner-operator of the Dairy Queen at Donegal. He was a member of the Mountain Laurel Chamber of Commerce and the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Donegal. John was an avid outdoorsman and he loved hunting. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Brenda (White) Shaffer; two children, Amy Benning and her husband, Ted, of Johnstown, and Lee Shaffer and his wife, Mara, of Donegal; one grandchild, Hannah Shaffer; one brother, Terry Shaffer and his wife, Joan, of Jones Mills, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mt.
