John A. Siko

1927 - 2024

John A. Siko, 97, of Snydertown, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was born April 27, 1927, in Latrobe, a son of the late John and Anna Chekan Siko. John was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Bradenville and was a WWII veteran having served in the US Navy. He had been a lifelong member and supporter of the GCU, where he had served as a past president of GCU Lodge 321. After retiring from Toyad Corporation, he worked for Gabriels, where he enjoyed interacting with many people. John had a strong work ethic, was family oriented, enjoyed gardening, and was always helping others. He held memberships in the American Legion Post #515, the Slovak Club, and the Greek Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen Jane O'Donnell Siko; a son, David S. Siko; and his three sisters, Mary Soltis, Betty Puskar, and Ann Leason. He is survived by his son John M. "Jay" Siko (Lisa Yasurek) of Snydertown, his daughters; Lisa Gulibon (Thomas) of Souderton, PA, and Susie Wajdic (Scott) of Youngstown, his brothers; Joseph Siko (Tina) of Loyalhanna and Paul Siko (Peggy) of Snydertown, three grandchildren; Aaron Gulibon (Amanda), David Gulibon, and Nicole Craig; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday in the McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Third Avenue, Derry. The Divine Liturgy will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. .
