John R. Spitznogle, 79, of West Point, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, in Latrobe Excela. He was born April 17, 1942, in Brave, Pa., a son of the late Robert V. and Virginia (McNeely) Spitznogle. John was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in West Point. He was an Army veteran serving in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 981. In addition, John was a former member of the Wednesday Nite Pin Busters Bowling League. John was retired from Peoples Natural Gas, where he worked as a regulation and measurement specialist, and was the former part owner of the Heavenly Daze Camp, Elk County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Spitznogle; and a sister, Connie L. Eicher. John will be greatly missed by his daughter, Jonna (Darren) Miller, of Youngwood; and his grandson, Noah Kevin Miller, of Garden City, S.C. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, in the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, PA 15626, 724-468-1177. A funeral service for John will follow at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in John's memory may be made to the Humane Society of Westmoreland County, 139 Humane Society Road, P.O. Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601.
