Joseph Tinkey

1938 - 2024

Joseph Tinkey, Jr., 85, of Stahlstown passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at his home, while surrounded and comforted by his loving family. He was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Jones Mills, a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Nickol Tinkey, Sr. Joe attended the former Ramsay High School in Mt. Pleasant. He was a construction worker, having worked for the former Laurel Environmental in Ligonier. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Donegal American Legion. Joe was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, his wife of 60 years, Donna L. Hines Tinkey; his son Joe Tinkey of Acme; his grandchildren, Megan Kocevar and partner Ronald King of Ruffsdale, and Tanesha Tinkey of Mt. Pleasant; his great-grandchildren Marcus Kocevar and Quentin Smith; and his faithful pet dog, Tinker. Joe was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his daughter, Margaret Irene "Peggy" Tinkey; his grandchildren, Emilee Kocevar and Adam Emert; his sisters, Emma Keogh, Lillian Cook, Opal Eutsey, Ruby Layman, Alberta Tinkey, and Ethel Tinkey; and his brothers, Orville, Carl, Homer, and Daryl Tinkey, and an infant brother, John Tinkey. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., the hour of the Funeral Service, on Friday, in the MARK C. BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft (724-455-2310), with Pastor Keith Deckinger officiating. Interment will be private.
