Lillian Birt Obituary

Lillian M. Birt, 80, of Greensburg, passed peacefully to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, in Hempfield Manor. She was born June 23, 1935, in Manitoba, Canada. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to Almon; and loving mother of Dayton and Lynn Birt, Darrell and Lisa Birt, Debbie and Bill Prohaska and Dawn and Scott Rose. She is survived by her sister, Wilma Dell, of Ontario; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; and numerous nieces and nephews. She retired from Menasha Corporation in Madison in 2000, where she worked for 25 years in the accounts payable department. She was a member of Life Springs Church, formerly Liberty Christian Church, founded by both she and her husband in 1977. She enjoyed various sports like bowling, volleyball and softball. She spent many years active in the church as a Sunday school teacher, choir director and played the piano and saxophone. The family would like to send a special thanks to all the staff and caregivers from Hempfield Manor, Excela Hospice and From the Heart. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Life Springs Church, 314 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Greensburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with her son, the Rev. Bishop Dayton Birt, officiating at Life Springs Church and followed by the graveside ceremony. KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME entrusted with the arrangements.
