Linda W. Benyak

1931 - 2023

Lida Wilma (Lojpersberger) Benyak, 92, of Liberty Borough, formerly of New Kensington, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. She was born May 19, 1931, in Johnson City, N.Y., and was daughter to the late Paul and Helen (Fabik) Lojpersberger. She graduated from Johnson City High School, Class of 1949, and moved to New Kensington, where she worked for ALCOA Aluminum Co. while remaining involved with Sokol, USA-Lodge 46, where she was a gymnast, taught classes, and performed in a Czechoslovakian folk dance company. These groups brought her to meet the love of her life, Joseph Benyak. They got married on Oct. 16, 1954, and were married for a wonderful 56 years before his passing in Sept. 2010. She and Joseph had moved to Liberty Borough and Lida became an extremely active member of the Liberty Prebyterian Church for 66 years; from an attendance officer to the "Sunshine Lady," and various other activities, you could always count on Lida to be involved. She was also a member of the Liberty Senior Citizens and loved traveling with their whole group. While traveling, she found her favorite travel time was with her family to the beach. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Lorraine (Christopher) Nola, of Liberty Borough, Joann (Mike) Kudla, of Donegal, and Donna (Robert) Fisher, of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Nola-Shields, Rayna Nola, Michael (Lexi) Kudla, Erica (Thomas) Kudla-Turkovic, Cody (Jenessa) Kudla, Rob (Nicole) Fisher, Joe (Bianca) Fisher and Donny (Ashley) Fisher; 16 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Cayden, and Alyssa Shields, Kyra, Ella, Izaiah, Khloe, Michael, and Ash Kudla, Hailey and Tristan Turkovic, and Vivienne, Henry, R.J., Addison and Emily Fisher, plus two more on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Paul J. (Joan) Lojpersberger, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome Sunday, September 17, 2023 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131, 412-672-6322, Troy J. Gilbert, director. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jody Dausey officiating. Interment will take place at the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made, in Lida's honor, to the Liberty Presbyterian Church, 900 Elizabeth St., McKeesport, PA 15133.
