Major Harry P. Yanity

Maj. Harry P. Yanity, 75, of Greensburg, died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born July 5, 1928, in Crabtree, a son of the late Harry T. and Minnie Sorice Yanity. Harry was a career soldier and retired as a major in the U.S. Army, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a graduate of St. Vincent College and a self-employed accountant; a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Crabtree, the Crabtree VFD and the Penn State Nittany Lions Club; and a life member of the Latrobe Elks. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Winifred Monnich Yanity; a daughter, Winifred Yanity Lehman and husband, Kevin, of Adamsburg; four grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Monnicha, Meredith and Jared Lehman; a sister, Gloriann Guidas, of Greensburg; two brothers, Gene Yanity and wife, Mary Ann, of Crabtree, and Jerry Yanity and wife, Kathy, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Harry in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, 724-837-0020, Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Bartholomew Church with Father Justin Matro, O.S.B., Father Richard Ulam, O.S.B., and Father Tom Acklin, O.S.B., as concelebrants. Interment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Box 1A, Crabtree, PA 15624, or to St. Vincent College Athletic Department, 300 Fraser Purchase Road, Latrobe, PA 15650.
