Marie Davoli Obituary

Marie Davoli, 88, of Uniontown, formerly of Brownsville, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Fred and Frances (Mazza) Davoli. Marie was a lifelong member of the Historic Church of St. Peter of Brownsville and a 65-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court No. 1141 of Brownsville. She was the District Deputy, the Pennsylvania State Regent and National Director for the Catholic Daughters of America. She received the 2013 State Convention of Catholic Daughters of America award. She was a member of the Sons of Italy and the Rosa Garabaldi Lodge of Brownsville. Marie was employed by G.C. Murphy of Brownsville and retired from there after many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James V. Davoli Sr.; and a sister, Christine L. "Tina" Davoli. Marie is survived by two sisters, Angeline Nichols, of Pensacola, Fla., and Anna Sears and her husband, William, of Melbourne, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Anna Davoli, of Uniontown. She was greatly loved by her nieces and nephews: James Davoli Jr. and wife, Teresa, and family; Mary Ann Cuteri and husband, Fred, and family; Thomas Nichols and family; and Theresa Swartz and husband, Kelly, and family. Friends will be received 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and until 9:15 a.m. Saturday, the time of a prayer service, in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 680 Cherry Tree Lane, Uniontown, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, with the Rev. Father Joseph D. Armamento as celebrant. Interment will be in Redstone Cemetery. Parish wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday and the Catholic Daughters of America will recite the rosary at 3:30 p.m. The Rosa Garabaldi Lodge will meet at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
