Mario Renzi Obituary

Mario A. Renzi, 78, of Irwin, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, in Providence Point, Pittsburgh. He was the devoted son of the late Antonio and Nicolina Renzi; the beloved brother of his dear sister, Sue, who most recently preceded him in death; loving brother-in-law to the late Fulvio DeAngelis; and caring uncle to the late Michael Kubiak. He is survived by his nephew, Robert (Diana) DeAngelis, of Pittsburgh; and niece, Irma (Michael) Kubiak, of Philadelphia; his two great-nephews, Robert Jr. and Anthony DeAngelis; and his two great-nieces, Kate Kubiak and Kirsten (Brian) Cheney. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked as a hairdresser while he attended college at night to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher. Senor Renzi, as he was fondly known to his students, previously taught in West Newton, and became the Spanish teacher at Yough High School in Herminie for 31 years. He also had taught Spanish at WCCC in Youngwood for many years. Senor ran the prom committee and the Spanish studies abroad programs, spending countless hours with the students, helping them fundraise and then chaperoning them while they enjoyed these memorable events that he helped them make possible. He treasured his family, students and friends, together with his beloved animals. He grew crops and vegetables to feed his animals and to share his bounty with his friends. He will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him for his humor and generosity.
As they were together in life and now in death, friends of Mario and his sister, Sue, will be received from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, in the funeral home. Entombment for Mario and his sister, Sue, will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.

My dear friend Mario, I'll never forget you. We had some great times over the years. I often think about the trips to Florida and all the fun we had and the great food we ate. The crazy times we had in the beauty shop, great memories. The time in grade school when we went to the school picnic and I took you on the roller coaster for the first time and you screamed murder that you wanted off, and you never went on again. You were always in my prayers and will always be in my memories. Your friend Mickey...
