Marjorie Larouere Obituary

Marjorie Neely Larouere passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021. Born May 9, 1934, she was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and great-aunt. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Benton and Edna Neely, husband, Jack Larouere, and sister, Virginia Neely Moran. Margie was an incredibly accomplished woman who lived abroad for many years, traveled the world extensively and was fluent in English, Spanish and French. Upon retirement, Margie and Jack returned to the Pittsburgh area, where they volunteered their time to many charities and community-based agencies. As a lifelong learner, Margie volunteered in literacy programs and taught English as a second language to adults. She also volunteered in library programs, Meals-on -Wheels, Faith-based outreach programs and her beloved Pittsburgh Symphony. As an accomplished musician in her own right, Margie devoted her later years to the symphony including serving as a docent in the school-based FiddleStix program for elementary students. Margie also was an active member in Symphony East, ultimately serving as president. Margie's deep faith and involvement in her church included many trips to the Dominican Republic, where she participated in serving the neediest of the needy utilizing her fluency in Spanish to assist. Margie's kindness, compassion for others and generosity of spirit was renowned and included working as a volunteer with hospice. She was a role model for so many, especially her family. Margie expected nothing in return and rarely discussed her contributions. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A private burial will take place in the family plot in Beaver. Arrangements are entrusted to the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE. Memorial donations may be made to her beloved Pittsburgh Symphony at Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
