Mark John Gasparovic, 73, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021. He was born July 12, 1948, in McKeesport, and was the son of the late Mark John Gasparovic and the late Anna (Sinichak) Gasparovic Scarpari. He was a member of Dormition of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church, McKeesport, and was church treasurer for 50 years. Mark was a retired math and science teacher in the Belle Vernon Area School District and was also a member of the Belle Vernon Education Association. He loved family gatherings, reminiscing, biking and tennis. He is survived by his sisters, Marion Temple, of McKeesport, Mary Jane (Dr. Raymond) Malackany, of Canton, Ohio, Carol (Ronald) DePaul, of San Diego, Calif., Nancy Parker, of Hempfield Township and Diane (Richard) Tomkowitz, of Elizabeth Township; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Brant. Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township, 412-751-5000, Drew J. Gilbert, director. Panihida Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. Thursday. The burial service will be held at Dormition of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, with the Rev. Dimitri Ermakov, officiating. I wish you God speed. You were a great Teacher and friend. I will always remember your Science class, when I was your student, and all of the Bellmar Dances we did together when I became your colleague. I am sure you are in Heaven right now figuring up what activities the angels will be doing. You will be greatly missed I assure you. Ang,R.J. and I are greatly saddened by your passing. Mark was one of my dad’s best friends. I’ve known him since I was a little girl. He was friendly,nice and always had time to answer computer questions. He was a great man in a time when they have almost ceased to exist. My condolences to his family.

Mark and I worked together from 1973 until I retired. He added so much to the school through his dedication, student council, dances, assemblies, fund raisers, special schedules. He made Bellmar a special place. He will be missed greatly.
