Martha Reuss

1935 - 2024

Martha (Harrold) Reuss, 88, of Irwin, Hempfield Township, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, at Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Circleville, a daughter of the late Lee and Caroline (Broker) Harrold. She was married to her high school sweetheart and soulmate, George, for 69 years. Martha was a member of St. Edwards Church in Herminie, where she was a former member of the Sunshine Club. She was co-owner with her husband and the office manager at Reuss Engineers Inc. She was formerly employed by West Penn Power in Pittsburgh and Cabin Hill. She was also employed by Jeannette Glass in the purchasing department. Martha was an avid bowler and competed every year at nationals. She was once awarded Woman Bowler of the Year in Western Pennsylvania. Martha also enjoyed the outdoors and riding her horse. She held many jobs over the years, but her favorite and most important job was as a mother and grandmother, which she did to perfection. She was the heart and soul of her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Lee Harrold and William Harrold; and her sister, Caroline Swanson. She is survived by her beloved husband, George; four sons, George and wife, Lisa, Jim and wife, Melanie, Dave and wife, Chris, and John and wife, Janet; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and countless others who loved her. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at St. Edward Parish in Herminie. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
