Maurice M. "Sonny" Sinan Sr., 72, of Export, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, while vacationing in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Wall, a son of the late Mevlan and Mildred (Page) Sinan. Sonny worked in animal husbandry and was the owner of MS Bio-Ag. He was a former employee of Sears in Greensburg for 26 years. Maurice attended Penn State University in the agricultural programs, and proudly served his country in the Army. He was a member of F&AM Forbes Trail Lodge 783, Export, LOOM Lodge 234, Export, and Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ (Hills Church), Export, where he served as deacon and elder. Mr. Sinan grew up on the family farm in Export, where he gained an affection for animals. He was the founding secretary of the Westmoreland Fair and served as the past president of the Westmoreland Cattlemen Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Martha "Mom" Holt; and his cat and companion, Cuddles. Sonny is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Sandra (Holt) Sinan; loving son, Maurice "Maury" Sinan Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of Cranberry Township; cherished grandchildren, Megan, Madison, Mary and Morgan Sinan; devoted brothers and sisters, Nelsie Zedella, Rose Marie (Frank) Patek, Milos (Sandy) Sinan, Joanne (Gary) Bortz and Raymes (Mary) Sinan; brothers-in-law, Len (Carol) Holt and Bob Holt and his special fiance, Sharon March. Also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the WOLFE-VON GEIS FUNERAL HOME INC., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export, 724-327-1400. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ with Pastor Joseph W. Hedden Jr. officiating (Everyone please meet at the church). Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors accorded by the Greensburg VFW Post 33 Honor Guard.
