Michael Konstanty Obituary

Michael F. Konstanty, 78, of Greensburg, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 1, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late George and Bertha (Duda) Konstanty. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by U.S. Steel, McKeesport. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg, VFW Post 33 and its Honor Guard, American Legion Post 981, South Greensburg, the South Greensburg Hunt Club, Young Voters Club, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ann (Caporella) Konstanty, on Aug. 25, 1986; a son-in-law, Donald W. Kalp, on April 7, 2001; and a brother, Joseph Konstanty. He is survived by three daughters, Michele A. Kalp, of New Stanton, Sandra L. Emanuele and her husband, Mark, of Greensburg, and Kimberly A. Shuster and her husband, Michael, of North Huntingdon; six grandchildren, Shannon Haywood and her husband, Randy, Daniel Kalp, Nicole Emanuele, Scott Emanuele, Michael Shuster and Jonathan Shuster; and Mike's friend and companion, Joyce Murray, of Greensburg, and her children, Crystal Kern, Diana Demorest, Lisa Baker, Frank Kovatch and Brandi Murray. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers in the funeral home Monday at 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at noon in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard.
