Michael S. Kraynek

Michael S. Kraynek, 95, originally from Monessen, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, in the William Penn Assisted Living Center of Jeannette. He was a son of the late Wasyl and Antoinette Sokol Kraynek. Mr. Kraynek had graduated from Monessen High School with the class of 1938 and Robert Morris in 1951 with a major in accounting. Mr. Kraynek served his country in the Army during World War II and was a staff sergeant, quartermaster stationed in Adak, Alaska. Mr. Kraynek was a member of the Monessen Elks Lodge 773, St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church and American Legion Post 28. Mr. Kraynek originally worked for Liggett Spring and Axle in Monongahela as an accountant. He later worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue as an auditor supervisor in the Sales and Use Tax Office in Greensburg until his retirement in 1982 after 27 years of employment. His hobbies included photography, gardening and woodworking. Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen and husband, Dan Seydor, of Camp Hill; a son, Neil and wife, Monica Kraynek, of Export; two granddaughters, Kristen Seydor Duncan and Rebecca Kraynek McFall; two grandsons, Scott Seydor and Michael Kraynek; and five great-grandchildren, Mason Duncan, Jacob McFall, Kaitrin McFall, Ayden Seydor and Megan Seydor. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Shusta Kraynek; brothers, Walter and Samuel Kraynek; and six sisters, Mary, Ethel, Martha, Eva, Anna and Olga.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule, 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 10 a.m. to noon, the time of services, Thursday, May 12. Interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.
