Michaelene T. 'Micki' (Ridilla) Smolleck, 77, of Latrobe, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at her home. Born Aug. 6, 1946, in Latrobe, she was a daughter of the late Michael J. Ridilla and Helen A. (Wasileski) Ridilla. Micki was an active and devoted member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville, and it's Ladies Guild. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed in the Unity Township Tax Collector's office and also served as President of Jednota Branch 312. A terrific baker, she was especially known for her trays of wonderful Christmas cookies. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling all over and her most memorable and favorite trip was an Alaskan cruise. Micki's kind and caring personality stood out to those who knew her. Her compassion and concern for the well-being of others, even despite her own health concerns, was a testament to her loving heart. Her family meant everything to her, and she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Blaze. Micki is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mark E. Smolleck of Latrobe; three children, Dr. Kelly L. Hale, and her husband, Jeffrey, of Ashburn, VA, Scott M. Smolleck of Lewisburg, PA, and Kristi L. Miller, and her husband, Barry, of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor and Connor Hale, and Dominic and Gabriella Smolleck; one brother, Lawrence M. Ridilla of Ligonier; two sisters, Karen Gross, and her husband, Tom of Ligonier, and Janet Ridilla of Buford, GA; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Excela Health Home Care and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. At Micki's request, there will be no public visitations. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Bradenville. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
