Norma J. Patterson

1940 - 2016

Norma J. Patterson, 76, of Rostraver Township, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, in Monongahela Valley Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elizabeth Township, Jan. 19, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Steve Kurutz Jr. and Mary (Balko) Kurutz. Norma was a waitress at Sweeney's Restaurant for many years and most recently at Denny's Restaurant in Belle Vernon for more than 20 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in West Newton. She was a great homemaker, an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She took wonderful, loving care of her husband, Frank, until his death in 2006. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann (Chuck) Harris, of West Newton, who was her caregiver, and Julia "Tudy" (Pat) Moreman, of Greensburg; brother, Steven R. (Marilyn) Kurutz, of Duquesne; her "girls," Debbie, Tammy and Pam; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her special companion, Fred "Hook" DiVirgilio, of Perryopolis. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Frank Patterson; and their faithful dog, Tiny.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Belle Vernon/Rostraver Township, (724-929-7934), where parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church, West Newton, with the Rev. John Sweeney and the Rev. James Bump concelebrating. Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
