Patricia Lewandowski Obituary

Patricia Ann Lewandowski, 90, of New Kensington, passed peacefully in her sleep Sunday, April 30, 2023, with family members at her side. She was born to the late Charles "Red" Leroy and Christine (Bell) Harkins Nov. 5, 1932. She was a 1951 graduate of Ken High, New Kensington. She worked at various places, including the former Citizens General Hospital as a lab technician, head cashier at JCPenney's and New Kensington-Arnold School District for 23 years as a cafeteria worker, handing out lunches to grade school students. She was active in her community and volunteered her time at Penn State New Kensington. She was a very active member of the United Presbyterian Church of New Kensington, serving as a deacon, an elder on the personal committee and was involved in their prayer chain. She also enjoyed for 21 years helping with the church newsletter as well as the community Food Bank at her church. She was elected as judge of election for Westmoreland County for 24 years. She ALWAYS loved attending her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren's choir/band concerts and other school activities. She also loved attending their various sporting events, especially baseball games. When kids or people would come up and talk to her, they would always address her as "Grandma Pat." If you ever wanted to know the score or inning all you had to do is ask her. She enjoyed traveling with family to the 1998 Junior League State Championship games, where her son coached and grandson played. She is survived by her son, Dennis (Jennifer) Lewandowski; five grandchildren, Alan (Kim) Lewandowski, Donald Lewandowski Jr., Kathy Lewandowski, Johnathon Lewandowski and Melissa (Chris) Jackson; six great-grandchildren, Kendra Lewandowski, Paige (Lewandowski) Starr, Leroy Klems, Carina Lewandowski, Michael Klems and Crue Lewandowski; a brother, Charles Harkins Sr., of Upper Burrell; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Henry R. Lewandowski Sr., Sept. 3, 1978; two sons, Henry (Rick) Lewandowski Jr. and Donald Lewandowski Sr.; brother, Richard Harkins; sister, Harriett McCollough; and sister-in-law, Alice G. Harkins. The family will receive friends at the United Presbyterian Church, 601 Fifth Ave., New Kensington, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Gary Lyons and the Rev. Kenneth Foust. Private family burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Arrangements are entrusted to the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, Lower Burrell, 724-335-6500. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church or the UP Church (Food Bank).

Many fond memories of Pat and her involvement with the church. She always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a good morning as she ushered in church. Heaven now has another angel. Our deepest sympathy to her family.
