Paul A. Schmidtke, 88, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born April 4, 1933, in Monarch, a son of the late Rudolph and Emma (Voldek) Schmidtke and was also preceded in death by siblings, James R. Schmidtke, Edwina Hough and Joana Nicolazza. Paul was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Marines and a retired supervisor for Duquesne Light with 35 years of service. After retirement, he worked for B-Dry Waterproofing and McKeesport Hospital Engineering Department. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and the Men's Prayer Fellowship. He was a member of McKeesport-Duquesne Lodge No. 731, Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Shrine. He was a member of the Bromas Club Golf League and was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Bahrenberg) Schmidtke; his children, Teri (Mark) Filson, of North Huntingdon, and Mark Schmidtke, of Beaufort, S.C.; his grandchildren, Shawn (Elissa) Filson, Sally Greenway, Maddie (Spencer) Stipp and Maggie Schmidtke; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Cooper Greenway and Cameron Filson; siblings, Nancy Kress, of Connellsville, and Jack Edwin Schmidtke, of California; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, PA 15642, 724-863-1200. Masonic funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church, 617 Main St., Irwin, PA 15642.
