Regina Sylvester Obituary

Regina Sylvester, 86, of New Stanton, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Youngwood, a daughter of the late Samuel and Anna Bearty Oravetz. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Paul Sylvester Glass and Radiator Inc., in Youngwood, as secretary and treasurer. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Youngwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann Schall; and four brothers, Sam, Paul, Jim and John. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Paul P. Sylvester; a daughter, Paula Marcinik, who was Regina's best friend and angel, and her husband, Stan, who was Regina's best friend, of Hempfield Township; a granddaughter, Christina Marcinik Horan and her husband, Jared, of New Jersey; a brother, Gilbert Oravetz, of New Stanton; and a sister, Patricia Cancilla, of Pittsburgh. Regina was her husband's angel and she loved doing everything for her family. A private viewing for family members will take place from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday at BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Youngwood, with Father William C. McGuirk as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
