Richard Elliott Obituary

Richard "Dick" Elliott, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010. He was born in Bedford Valley to Russell and Elva Hite Elliott. He moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1954, shortly after his marriage to his wife "Marty." He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Derrick Elliott; his sons, Russell, Richard WM, Randall and his wife, Rhonda, and Richard S.; grandchildren, David, Benjamin and his wife, Anita, Jason, Brian, Teresa and her husband, Cesar, Elizabeth and Rebecca and her husband, Brian; great-grandchildren, Eli and Brooke; brothers, Emory, of Jeannette, William and his wife, Linda, of Arizona, Clyde and his wife, Janet, of Greensburg, and Curt and his wife, Veronica, of Jeannette; sisters, Barbara Fox and her husband, Allan, and Jean Smartnick and her husband, Paul, of Greensburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant brother, Russell Jr.; infant sister, Jeannette; and two brothers, Harold "Bob" and James Elliott. He served in the Army before his marriage. He was a very patriotic man. Dick was a heavy equipment hauler for most of his life. His proudest memory of hauling was to deliver beams to Kitt Park for the Stellar Telescope in 1968. He later owned Elliott Trucking. Funeral services were held in Phoenix, Ariz. We know you are in the safe hands of our Lord and we will see you again someday. You will be sadly missed "Pops" and we love you will all of our hearts. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
