Richard Schanz Obituary

Richard A. Schanz Sr., 65, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born July 29, 1937, in McKeesport, a son of the late William and Edythe Henskey Schanz. He was a retired employee of the Internal Revenue Service and also a retired district manager of Sorbus, Pittsburgh. He was a graduate of North Huntingdon High School, Class of 1955, and also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a bachelor of arts degree and a master's degree. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church of North Huntingdon, where he served as an elder, clerk of session, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Shidle Lodge 601 Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin, and the Bromas Club. He was a member of Harrolds Square Dance, where he served as treasurer. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette A. Plowman Schanz; three sons, Richard A. Schanz Jr., Robb E. Schanz and Randy S. Schanz, all of North Huntingdon; and a brother, William Schanz Jr. of Plantation, Fla. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Christ United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert M. Sheehan officiating. Interment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. An elders service will be held Monday evening in the funeral home. Masonic services will be held Monday at 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
