Robert B. Kording

1942 - 2023

Robert "Bob" B. Kording, Nov. 25, 1942; preceded in death by and son of William and Mary (Hill) Kording; brother of William Kording, Brian (Judy) Koriding and Jeffrey (Heidi) Kording; beloved father of Lisa (Peter) Hess, Melanie Steffler, Jessica (Mike) Kocon, Chelsea Kording (Matt Nastka), and Robert Kording Jr.; amazing pap-pap to Brandon (Sydney) Starr, Joseph Hess, Madeline Hess, Kelly Kording (Shawn Savage), Seth Steffler, Noah Steffler, Alyssa Fry and Hadlee Kocon. Blessed with his first great-grandchild, Logan Starr. He was a graduate of Quaker Valley High School in 1960. Following graduation, Bob served in the Army, achieving the rank of E-4 Specialist. His military tank mechanic training led him to become a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 66 union for 56 years. Bob worked for Mashuda Corp. for 30 years. Once retired, Bob dedicated his time to selfless charitable activities as a P.M. of Plum Creek Lodge, no. 799. Additionally, Bob was a founding member, and P.M. of Lodge Ad Lucem Past Eminent Commander of Duquesne Commandery, No. 72, and active member of the Syria Shrine. Nothing gave Bob more joy than spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. His tireless love and dedication to his family was immeasurable. There is no way to quantify how much he will be missed by family and friends. He impacted so many people, that his memory and spirit will live on forever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, with thanks, that donations be given to the Shrines Hospital in Care of Syria Shrine, 1877 Shriners Way, Cheswick, PA 15024, or www.Shrinerschildrens.org. Family and friends will be received Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at MCDONALD-LINN FUNERAL HOME, 529 California Ave., Avalon, PA 15202. There will be a Knights Templar Service starting at 7 p.m. and a Masonic Service to follow Thursday. A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. in the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home Chapel and friends will be received from 9 until time of service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Allegheny County Memorial Park.
