Samuel Craig Obituary

Samuel Lee Craig, 68, of Ruffsdale, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, in Westmoreland Manor, after a courageous five-year battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. Samuel was born Feb. 13, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of Merle and Elsie (Stoner) Craig. After graduating from East Huntingdon High School, he was drafted into the Army and served in Japan during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Bridgeport United Church. He was formerly employed as a machinist by Robertshaw Controls. An avid outdoorsman, he was an Eagle Scout, a member of the East Huntingdon Fire Department, the American Legion and the East Huntingdon Sportsman's Club. Surviving are his children, Natalie Craig, of Greensburg, and Douglas Craig and wife, Lauren, of Apollo; his grandson, Rocco Douglas Craig; brothers, Glenn Craig, of Ruffsdale, Henry Craig, of Latrobe, and Fred Craig, of Franklin; sisters, Marion Porch, of Acme, Nancy Harkcom, of Mt. Pleasant, and Helen Ann Berg, of Florida; his former wife, Barbara Miller Craig, of Scottdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jane Bitner and Eleanor Ramsier. Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, (724-547-2122), where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, with the Rev. Ralph Mostoller officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mt.
