Sharon S. Forish

1942 - 2024

Sharon Sue (Matlock) Forish, 82, of Latrobe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home. Born Oct. 27, 1942, in Farlington, KS, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Bass Matlock and Phoebe Mary (Graham) Matlock. Prior to her retirement, Sharon was employed at the Greater Latrobe School District. She was an honorary member of Latrobe Volunteer Fire Department Company No. 1, where she had volunteered for the annual firemen's fair. For over 20 years, she cooked the pierogis for the fair and worked the cash register in the food line. She was affectionately known as 'mama' and 'nana' to those who knew and loved her, and was a lifelong, avid Steelers fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina E. Orvosh; a grandson, Nathaniel S. Forish; four brothers, Hugh Jr., Donald Dean, Keith, and Darrell Matlock; and two sisters, Ila Rose Kramer and Naomi Collins. Sharon is survived by one son, Robert Steven 'Stuffy' Forish, and his wife, Jennifer, of Latrobe; one brother, Kenneth Matlock; one sister, Kay Bennett; three grandchildren, Kady Sue Forish, Alex Orvosh, and Taylor Orvosh and her husband, Josh Canter. She is also survived by two special nieces, Gayle and Paulette. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Services and interment are private.
