Shawn Kreuzberger, 50, of Tupelo, Miss., formerly of Westmoreland City, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was born May 23, 1970, in Westmoreland City, where he spent his childhood, to J. Leon Kreuzberger and Norma Golembiewski Kreuzberger. Shawn received his nuclear engineering degree from Penn State and he joined the Air Force. During his military career, he traveled all around the world, proudly serving his country for several years and obtaining the rank of captain. After two tours in Afghanistan and receiving several commendations, including the Bronze Star, he retired from the Air Force and began working as an industrial engineer. Around six years ago, he settled in Tupelo while working for Oil-Dri. Shawn loved mustangs, model trains and woodworking. He was an exceptionally talented craftsman and an extraordinary father to his son, Tristan, and son to his mother, Norma. Survivors include his son, Tristan Kreuzberger; and his mother, Norma Kreuzberger. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the Tupelo Chapel of HOLLAND FUNERAL DIRECTORS, with Father Tim Murphy officiating.
