Teresa Liszewski Obituary

Teresa Mary Liszewski, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died peacefully on September 7th, 2024, surrounded by loving family. She was 94 years old and passed shortly after a diagnosis of colon cancer. Devotion, persistence, patience, and love describe Teresa, who put her career on the side to marry her husband, Cazmier L. Liszewski, and raise their 7 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cazmier Leonard in 2020; a daughter, Nanci Ann Uhring; and an infant son, David. Her life included many adventures as she followed her husband from Buffalo, New York, where she was born in 1930, to Sacramento, California, and on to Smithton, Pennsylvania. She eventually moved to Olney, Maryland, where she lived with her daughter Patricia and family. She loved ballroom dancing with her late husband, and was a prolific seamstress and cross-stitcher, quilter, canner, puzzle maker, and cookie baker, among many other gifts. Over the years, she wrangled children, horses, dogs, and chickens, all to provide her family with wonderful experiences and lifelong memories. Along with her husband, she was an active supporter of the Westmoreland Youth Trail Chapter (WYTC) for many years. As a devout Catholic, she encouraged her children to find solace in God and always put family first. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Mary Mark; six children, including Kathleen Zimmerman, Anna DeRosa, Paul Liszewski, Jenny Lipe, Patty Liszewski, and James Liszewski; along with 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Her strength, courage, and grace will continue to impact our family and future generations. She will be deeply missed by all those she touched. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 19th at noon at St. Peter's Church in Olney, MD. She will be interred in Smithton, PA, at a later date. Donations can be made in her name to The Felician Sisters Convent in Cheektowaga, NY, or WYTC in West Newton, PA.
