Theodore "Ted" D. Mitchell Sr., 88, of Larimer, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Nov. 27, 2025, in Greensburg. He was born Feb. 13, 1937, in Larimer, a son of the late Felix and Lucy (Palangio) Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beana and Tina; three brothers, Nick, Joe, and Dan; and a beloved grandson, Andrew. Ted is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Donna (Zidansek) Mitchell; his son, Ted Mitchell, and wife, Stephani; his daughter, Diane Hacker, and husband, David; four grandchildren, Claire and her husband, Michael Marple, Angela, Jessica, and Tony Mitchell; and one great-grandson, Carter. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Ted was known as someone who was always ready to help, at work, for his neighbors, and especially for his family. He had an extraordinary gift for taking things apart and putting them back together, whether it was cars, tools, or anything mechanical. A master troubleshooter with a brilliant and inventive mind, he was truly one of a kind. Above all, family was his life. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, and a proud Army veteran. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at OTT FUNERAL HOME, 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, PA 15642. Parting Prayers will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church.
