Thomas "Tom" Joseph Ereditario Sr., 70, of Winter Haven, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021. Tom was born Jan. 30, 1951, to the late Albert and Mae (Fullard) Ereditario in Jeannette. He was a graduate of Jeannette High School, Class of 1968. After graduating from Salem College in West Virginia, he moved to Winter Haven, Fla., in 1973. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Dorothy (Dottie) Murphy. Married in 1976, Tom and Dottie spent the next45 years together happily married. Encouraged by his friends who were teaching, Tom began working for the Polk County School Board as a math teacher at Denison Junior High School. He received his master's degree from the University of South Florida and moved into school administration as an assistant principal at Winter Haven High School. In 1998, he became principal of Fort Meade Middle-Senior High School, where he stayed until his retirement in 2008. Known for his gregarious personality, compassion and infectious smile, Tom was beloved by both his Blue Devil and Minor families, as well as anyone who was blessed enough to meet him. A devout family man, Tom never missed his kids' events or sports competitions if he could help it.Tom was always quick with a joke or a helping hand. He loved life and definitely lived it. He loved to laugh and to "crack wise" and will forever be remembered for his big heart. He is survived by his loving wife, Dottie; son, Thomas (Sabrina); daughter, Ashley Edwards; brothers, Albert Ereditario (Rebecca) and Daniel Ereditario (Jody); the apple(s) of his eye, his three grandchildren, Samantha, T.J. and Mya; as well as eight nieces and nephews and many cousins.
