Thomas E. "Tom" Orr, 73, of Kiski Township, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022. Born Sept. 29, 1948, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Edward Orr and Eunice (Stotler) Orr. Tom was a 1966 graduate of Penn Hills High School, and was the owner/operator of Orr Transport in Apollo for several years, retiring in June of 2009. He was a member of Apollo United Presbyterian Church. Tom loved spending time with his family and his cat, Cottontail. He liked watching the Little League World Series and NASCAR, especially his favorite drivers, Dale Sr. and Dale Jr. (most Sr.). Tom enjoyed watching his grandsons grow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Dunmire; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Joe Chirumbolo; and his nephew, Cody Orr. Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan B. (Protheroe) Orr; daughter, Amanda (Michael) Flickinger, of Kiski Township; grandsons, Alexander Dunmire and Caleb Flickinger; brother, Jeff (Marie) Orr, of Verona; sister, Linda (Ken) Cochran, of Franklin, Pa.; brothers-in-law, Philip (Kim) Protheroe, of York, Dean (Karen) Protheroe, of Swissvale; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. At Tom's request, there will be no public viewing. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, in the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, 401 First St., Apollo, with Pastor Lea Austin officiating. Private interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., Apollo.
