Vernon D. Heide

Vernon D. Heide, 93, of Stahlstown, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025. He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant Township. He was the son of the late Lewis and Viola (Oneal) Heide. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen (Heide) Goulding. He graduated from Hurst High School, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed retirement for the last 30 years after a career as a millwright. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid gardener. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Donegal. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rebecca (Lessman) Heide; two children, Brian Heide and Laurel Sherbondy (Michael); and grandson, Alex Heide. A private ceremony will be held to memorialize his life.
