William Henry "Bill" Farroux, 86, of New Oxford, formerly of Brea, Calif., and Level Green, died Monday, May 11, 2009, in Hanover Hospital. He was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Jeannette, a son of the late Leon J. and Elizabeth M. (Gribble) Farroux. Bill was a graduate of Jeannette High School, class of 1941. Prior to retirement, Bill was employed in the maintenance department of Lahabara City School District in Lahabara, Calif. He was an Army Air Corps. veteran of World War II. He attended airplane mechanic school and proudly served in Iwo Jima for three years. He was a member of the American Legion, the F&AM (Masons), and he was a Syria Shriner. He was currently a member of First United Methodist Church of Hanover and formerly a member of Community United Methodist Church, Harrison City. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved son, Francis L. Farroux; and a brother, Robert Farroux. Bill will be greatly missed and is survived by his loving family; his devoted wife of 63 years this June, Dorothy M. (Gross) Farroux; their son, William Howard Farroux Sr. and his wife, Shirley, of Taneytown, Md.; brothers and sisters, Betty Tarrango, of California, Joan Yost, of Williamsport, Leon Farroux, of California, and Richard Farroux, of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his three dear grandchildren, Eric Farroux, Amy Farroux and Bill Farroux Jr.; and nine special great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Funeral services for Bill will be held at 11 am. Thursday in the funeral home, immediately following visitation, with the Rev. John E. Ciampa, of Community United Methodist Church of Harrison City, officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post 981 Honor Guard, Greensburg, will follow in the Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
